Apple Crisp

You can make this anytime, but when you feel that first crispness of fall in the air and it smells like the apple harvest, warm apple crisp with cold vanilla ice cram is an absolutely perfect snack or dessert.

MAKES AN 8-INCH SQUARE PAN

Ingredients:

4 cups of apples, peeled, cored and sliced

¼ cup water

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup white sugar

½ cup brown sugar, dark or light

¾ cup flour

⅓ cup butter or margarine, at room temperature

. . . . . . . .

Instructions:

▪ Preheat oven to 350˚ F.

▪ Layer the apple pieces to cover the bottom of an 8-inch square baking pan.

▪ Mix together the water, cinnamon and salt, and sprinkle it over the apples.

▪ Mix together the sugar, flour and butter or margarine until it is crumbly. You may want to use your fingers to do this. Spread this mixture over the apples.

▪ Bake 40 to 50 minutes until it is brown all over, but check on it earlier to make sure it does not burn.
