Baked Potatoes

Baked Potato

Baked potatoes are one of the easiest foods to prepare. You need to plan ahead because they take about an hour to cook, so add on to that 10 minutes or so to preheat the oven. You also need to have the right kind of potato, which is a high starch Russet also known as an Idaho potato.

Baked potatoes are traditionally served with butter or sour cream and chives. You can also be creative and try a grated cheese such as cheddar, chopped cooked bacon, chopped avocado or whatever strikes your mood.

Instructions:

▪ Preheat the oven to 400° F.

▪ Scrub the potatoes under cool running water to remove any dirt clinging to the skin. Dry with a paper towel.

▪ Pierce the potatoes a couple of times with a fork. This allows steam to escape during cooking; without these vents it is possible that the potato could explode in the oven.

▪ Set the potatoes directly on the rack in the center of the oven and bake for an hour.

▪ Serve with your favorite accompaniments.
